Christian View of 2022 - #36
The future doesn’t come with a formulae. There are no monthly maps to help us navigate the unexpected news, the unwanted knock on the door.
2022 has no manufacturer’s Manual, no Instructor’s guide. Life doesn’t have a predetermined, predictable rhythm - just when we think we’ve got it figured out, the phone rings, the notification dings, and it all flies out the window.
The most predictable thing about humanity is that it is unpredictable.
How can we sail the sea, ride the wind when we are the mercy of the tides and turns.
The Twelve found themselves in the suddenness of a storm.
Mark 4: 35-40 NLT
As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
THE STORM AND THE SON
They are not mutually exclusive
The Son of God did not guarantee calm on the Sea of a Galilee. Jesus on board did not create a storm-free zone.
What storm is breaking its white caps over your fragile boat? Out of control winds can throw it all off course. And the story becomes more impossible when you see a sleeping Jesus - seemingly unaware, uninvolved, and; so close yet so far away.
That’s 2022.? That’s you?
Three things to remember in the storm:
He cares about you in the storm
He cares about the storm in you
He commands the storm around you.
O what words when the wind is blowing.
Master, the tempest is raging!

The winds and the waves shall obey My willPeace be stillWhether the wrath of the storm-tossed seaOr demons or men or whatever it beNo water can swallow the ship where liesThe Master of ocean and earth and skiesThey all shall sweetly obey My willPeace be still peace be stillThey all shall sweetly obey My will
Peace peace be still.
No, there are no formulae … but Jesus
No, there are no guarantees… but Jesus
No, there are no storm-free zones … but Jesus
On board, Lord … ENOUGH !!
