Christan View of 2022 - #38

I know that it’s considered rather “old fashioned”, “out of date” and “off the radar” but the reality is … prayer works!

It’s as simple and as profound as that.

It’s been refiled under “co-incidence”, relabeled as “karma” but prayer has a power that is world-changing, history-making, church- empowering, hell-disrupting, and can bring help and healing to spirit, soul and body.

Imagine, if you can, 2022 without prayer…no spiritual impetus… no God-intervention…no comfort beyond that which the human heart can give, no counsel beyond human

I know it appears archaic and anemic - bowed heads, bent knees, closed eyes, talking to … well, no one that you can see.

Ah, but see Daniel in the window, Jonah in the whale or Jesus in the wilderness - it would be a unrecognizable Bible if you erased prayer from its pages.

Without prayer, The Gospels become a graveyard, Acts would lose its action and The Epistles would be emptied of passion and the Apostles personalities and soul.

Yes, Prayer is the centre piece of the

Christian experience.

The Christian view of 2022 cannot be complete outside of the prayerful perspective of a bowed heart before the throne of Grace.

The purpose of prayer is not to convince God that we know best but to embrace His omniscience in childlike trust.

The power of prayer is revealed in our own powerlessness to create the perfect ending; and then to release our childlike faith in His omnipotence.

The passion of prayer is in the realization that the One to whom we pray is the total essence of love… love that is relational, rich and redeeming.

How about it? The weeks that remain in this closing calendar need the input and impact of effectual and fervent prayer - an Elijah-kind- of prayer that can bring down the rain, call down the fire and establish righteousness in the land.

I’m somewhat reluctant to be so predictable as to point out the obvious, yet ominous, text … but I can think of none other more fitting …

2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.
